Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories seeks a year-round graduate intern specializing in quantum algorithms. The position is mostly remote with planned site visits as needed. You will collaborate with one or more research teams and contribute to cutting edge projects in quantum computing.

You will demonstrate technical leadership, publish results in peer reviewed journals, and contribute to open source software when appropriate. Strong communication and collaboration in a hybrid environment are valued.

Qualifications

• Earned bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited science, engineering, or math graduate program.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0.
• Ability to work up to 30 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer.
• To be eligible for this position, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States of America, Sandia will not sponsor work authorization for this position.

Responsibilities

• Designing and analyzing algorithms for high energy physics models, with an emphasis on methods suitable for future quantum computing architectures.
• Developing and studying Quantum Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) schemes for future quantum computing architectures.
• Collaborate with one or more research teams and contribute to cutting edge projects in quantum computing.
• Publish innovative findings in peer reviewed journals and, when appropriate, contribute to open source software.
