Job summary

Neumo is seeking an on-site/remote QA professional to build and execute test plans for our payments platform, including web apps, APIs, and physical terminals. You will write test cases, perform end-to-end testing, and contribute to automation efforts to ensure accuracy and security of transactions.

The role requires 2+ years in QA, experience with web/API testing, and familiarity with payment concepts and PCI standards. Remote-friendly with an on-site option in Indiana.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of QA experience with end-to-end testing of transaction-processing systems
• Experience testing web applications and REST APIs (Postman or similar tools)
• 2+ years using Azure Table or related databases to query transaction data
• Preferred: payments/fintech experience
• Preferred: testing POS terminals or other physical devices (e.g., Verifone, Ingenico)
• Preferred: knowledge of EMV, contactless standards, ISO 8583, card brand certifications or payment gateway integrations

Responsibilities

• Translate business requirements and payment processes into test requirements for web, API, and terminal solutions
• Identify and assess risks affecting transaction accuracy, funds movement, and data security; implement mitigations
• Create test strategies ensuring functionality, performance, reliability, and payment industry standards
• Collaborate with leads and engineers to plan testing across web, API, and terminal layers
• Execute end-to-end testing of the full transaction lifecycle from card presentment to settlement and reconciliation
• Test terminal behavior across entry methods (chip, NFC, swipe, manual), PIN, receipts, and error handling
• Test device-specific scenarios: connectivity loss, offline modes, power interruption, firmware updates
• Perform API testing of payment, webhook, and reporting endpoints; validate requests, responses, error codes, idempotency
• Verify web components like merchant portal and hosted checkout across browsers/devices
• Record, log, and track defects with steps, logs, and transaction IDs; coordinate with dev team
• Assess test results to identify defects including discrepancies in amounts, statuses, or settlement data
• Support certification and compliance testing (card brands, EMV, PCI related)
• Own a workstream (e.g., terminal software or payment APIs) throughout project life cycle
• Maintain device test lab with terminals, peripherals, test cards, firmware versions
• Participate in daily engineering meetings to update status
• Assist in-house support with defect exploration and escalations
