Job summary

Canonical is seeking a Python Software Engineer for the Certification team to advance Linux hardware testing across devices. You will build and maintain Python-based test automation tools and contribute to open source certification efforts.

Based in a remote-friendly team, you will collaborate across time zones, work with Ubuntu Core and Ubuntu Desktop server certs, and help deliver robust hardware testing solutions that improve end-user experiences worldwide.

Qualifications

• Proficient Python development experience.
• Strong software design and pragmatic thinking.
• Interest in test automation methodologies.
• Experience with Ubuntu or Linux distributions.
• Ability to collaborate across globally distributed teams.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and extend Python-based test automation tools (Checkbox).
• Develop new ways to enable remote automated testing.
• Support hardware test enablement and related tooling.
• Write functional and performance tests for hardware certification.
• Collaborate with international teams; travel 2–3 times per year.
