OpenTrain AI, Inc. seeks a backend developer to build and evaluate AI agent backends. You will create connectors that replicate tools, develop long-horizon tasks, and contribute across both tracks. The role emphasizes quality checks, realistic task design, and evaluation rubrics.

The position is remote as a four-week contractor engagement, requiring at least three years of backend experience and strong Python skills with modern frameworks.

Qualifications

• At least three years of backend development experience.
• Strong Python skills with FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
• Experience building scalable backends, REST APIs, and microservices.
• Proficiency with Git, Docker, pipelines, testing and code-quality practices.
• Professional fluency in English.
• Ability to work remotely up to 20 h/week and produce at least one approved task per day.

Responsibilities

• Develop backend applications that replicate collaboration, project management, email, docs, and workflows.
• Extend and build connectors to emulate tools and integrations.
• Test and validate connector behavior against emulated systems.
• Study workflows and data to suggest long-horizon task development.
• Write realistic tasks and assess their quality, realism, and correctness.
• Create evaluation rubrics for correct, partial, and deficient work.
• Participate in calibration and quality reviews to meet milestones.
