Job summary

OpenTrain AI, Inc. is seeking a backend-focused contractor to build and evaluate software and workflows used to develop AI agents. You will concentrate on backend connectors that replicate tools such as Slack, Jira, Notion, Gmail, and wikis.

Qualifications

  • At least three years of backend development experience.
  • Strong Python skills with FastAPI, Flask or Django.
  • Experience building scalable backends, REST APIs, and microservices.
  • Working knowledge of Git, Docker, pipeline fundamentals, testing, and code-quality practices.
  • Regular use of AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar tools.
  • Professional fluency in English.

Responsibilities

  • Build Python backend applications that replicate tools such as Slack, Linear, Jira, Notion, Gmail, and wikis.
  • Extend existing connectors and create new connectors within agreed delivery timeframes.
  • Test and validate connector behavior so each implementation faithfully matches the intended system.
  • Study data and workflows to identify ideas for long-horizon tasks.
  • Write realistic tasks and check their quality, realism, and correctness through structured quality assurance.
  • Create rubrics that distinguish correct, partly correct, and deficient work.
  • Use AI coding assistants during development, quality assurance, and validation.
  • Take part in calibration and quality reviews.

The work

You will build and evaluate software and workflows used to develop AI agents. You may focus on backend connectors that replicate SaaS tools or on realistic long-horizon tasks and the standards used to evaluate them.

  • Build Python backend applications that replicate tools such as Slack, Linear, Jira, Notion, Gmail, and wikis.
  • Extend existing connectors and create new connectors within agreed delivery timeframes.
  • Test and validate connector behavior so each implementation faithfully matches the intended system.
  • Study data and workflows to identify ideas for long-horizon tasks.
  • Write realistic tasks and check their quality, realism, and correctness through structured quality assurance.
  • Create rubrics that distinguish correct, partly correct, and deficient work.
  • Use AI coding assistants during development, quality assurance, and validation.

What it pays and takes

This is a remote contractor engagement lasting four weeks and beginning immediately. Work is available part time at 20 or more hours per week, with no stated cap on the number of tasks while work is available.

  • $300 per approved task.
  • Complete at least one approved task per day.
