Job summary

GAP Solutions Inc. is seeking an experienced Public Health Surveillance AI Specialist for the CDC in Atlanta, GA.

This full-time role focuses on applying epidemiology and AI to strengthen disease surveillance, situational awareness, and public health decision-making. You will collaborate with epidemiologists, data scientists, AI engineers, software engineers, and analysts to evaluate AI use cases, develop test datasets, and ensure outputs are scientifically sound, explainable, and free of bias.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, epidemiology, public health, microbiology, biostatistics, or related field.
• 5+ years in biology, epidemiology, public health, or related surveillance.
• Experience with public health surveillance data and disease trends interpretation.
• Ability to assess scientific results and communicate to diverse audiences.
• Strong understanding of AI concepts and their public health applications.
• U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.

Responsibilities

• Apply biology and epidemiology to design and evaluate AI-enabled surveillance solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate needs into AI use cases and workflows.
• Evaluate AI tools for event detection, summarization, information extraction, and trend analysis.
• Develop test scenarios and evaluation datasets from surveillance data and literature.
• Assess AI outputs for accuracy, relevance, bias, and explainability.
• Support validation of AI-assisted workflows using diverse health data.
