Project Manager - Temporary

Location: Remote / Hybrid (Must have Windows PC with webcam for VPN access)

Duration: 1 to 3 months

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to coordinate and oversee multiple critical projects related to a recent email security incident from March. This role will primarily focus on managing responses to a government audit by the Office for Civil Rights (OCR) and coordinating activities related to an impending class action lawsuit.

The ideal candidate will be highly organized, self-driven, and have proven expertise in managing complex projects involving cross-functional teams and sensitive data.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret government audit requests (OCR) and assign tasks to appropriate team members.
• Coordinate collection and preparation of documentation including logs, screenshots, emails, and other evidence demonstrating HIPAA compliance and remediation efforts.
• Manage timelines and ensure all deliverables for the OCR audit are completed by the June 20th deadline.
• Oversee gathering and organizing evidence relevant to the class action lawsuit, which overlaps with the OCR investigation.
• Coordinate two security-related projects:

  • Implementation of Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for approximately 600 users (remote vendors and local employees).

  • Deployment of KnowBe4 PhishER Plus anti-phishing system.

• Facilitate communication between vendors, system engineers, helpdesk teams, and management.
• Attend regular meetings, provide status updates, and prepare actionable To-Do lists to track project progress.
• Persistently follow up with team members to ensure task completion without direct supervision.
• Collate data and prepare comprehensive deliverables for government and legal teams.
• Perform light data entry and manage project tracking documents using Excel and potentially MS Project or Microsoft DevOps.
• Assist with additional minor projects such as system upgrades and software initiatives, including prioritizing and organizing To-Do lists.

Qualifications

• Active PMP certification required.
• Minimum 3 years project management experience, preferably with government audits, legal investigations, or IT security projects.
• Proven ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder projects with minimal oversight.
• Strong organizational, communication, and follow-up skills.
• Experience with project management software such as MS Project, Excel, or Microsoft DevOps.
• Ability to handle sensitive patient and security data with strict confidentiality.
• Must sign a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) due to exposure to protected health information (PHI).
• Must have a Windows computer with a webcam capable of running VPN software.
• Familiarity with HIPAA compliance, security incident remediation, and related legal processes a plus.
