Job summary

Kier & Wright in California is seeking a Project Engineer to provide engineering support to project teams, design and independently prepare technical plans, and collaborate with technicians to complete designs. The role covers on-site and off-site improvements for commercial, industrial, and high-density residential projects ready for construction.

Ideal candidates have a Civil Engineering degree and 0-5 years of land development experience; EIT is preferred and proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience; 2025-2026 graduates welcome.

Responsibilities

• Carries out tasks assigned by the Project Lead and engineering team.
• Develops working drawings for civil design plans in AutoCAD Civil 3D (grading, drainage, utility, stormwater management and street frontage improvements) from sketches.
• Uses engineering judgment to perform duties and knows when to ask questions, seek assistance or perform independent research.
• Manages personal time allotted to various tasks in order to meet obligations of one or more projects, including budget, quality and schedule.
• Provide accurate design of on-site and off-site improvements for the planning and construction of commercial, industrial, and/or high-density residential projects that are ready for construction.
• Can provide accurate design of grading, drainage, utilities and stormwater treatment with minimal input from engineer of record.
• Performs civil engineering calculations, SWPPP’s and other engineering reports.
• Effectively interacts with peers, clients, and sub-consultants.
