Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a Project Cost Controls Analyst to deliver data-driven financial analysis and forecasting across projects. This fully remote role requires periodic travel to sites (up to 25%).

You will build cost forecasts, monitor drivers, develop internal controls, and translate findings into executive-ready narratives for leadership, guiding strategic decisions across the portfolio.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Economics, Data Science, or related analytical field.
• 1–3 years of experience in project controls, FP&A, or data-driven roles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with Power BI, Python, and/or SQL preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured approach to modeling and interpretation.
• Experience partnering with internal stakeholders to identify objectives and achieve outcomes.
• Highly effective communicator capable of translating complex data into business terms for senior leadership.
• Strong data management skills and creativity in business problem solving.
• Proven ability to build clean, professional presentation decks that influence decision-making.
• Detail-oriented, self-starter driven.
• Ability to travel as needed to fulfill responsibilities and duties.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain project-level cost forecasts with cross-functional teams.
• Develop internal controls over financial reporting to ensure compliance with SOX.
• Implement analytics models to forecast future project cost from historical data.
• Assist with budget mapping ensuring fiscal responsibility across the department.
• Analyze project performance trends and drivers of variance.
• Conduct root-cause analyses on cost and schedule deviations and inform mitigation actions.
• Develop and maintain cost tracking and reporting systems for accurate operational reporting.
• Collaborate with project teams to gather cost data and provide trend insights.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements through analysis.
• Synthesize datasets into executive-ready stories highlighting trends and metrics.
• Translate variance drivers into clear business narratives for leadership.
• Engage in field visits to understand challenges and build trust with teams.
• Identify risks and early warning signals using historical data and benchmarks.
• Conduct scenario planning and develop contingency plans.
• Convey data-driven insights to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Define and analyze key metrics to manage project health and continuous improvement.
• Lead data quality audits and resolve discrepancies with field teams.
• Contribute analytics to lessons-learned and portfolio trend reports.
