Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a Project Cost Controls Analyst to deliver data-driven financial and strategic analysis across projects. The role is fully remote with periodic site travel (up to 25%).

Location details and expectations will be discussed in the interview process. Responsibilities include building project cost forecasts, maintaining internal controls, and developing analytics models to forecast costs from historical data.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Economics, Data Science, or related analytical field.
• 1–3 years of experience in project controls, FP&A, or data-driven roles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with Power BI, Python, and/or SQL highly preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured approach to modeling and interpretation.
• Experience partnering with internal stakeholders to identify objectives and collaborate to achieve outcomes.
• Highly effective communicator capable of translating complex technical data into business terms for senior leadership.
• Strong data management skills and creativity in business problem solving.
• Proven ability to build clean, professional presentation decks that influence decision-making.
• Detail-oriented, self-starter driven.
• Ability to travel as needed to fulfill responsibilities and duties.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain project-level cost forecasts with cross-functional teams; lead monthly reporting.
• Support SOX controls documentation and compliance activities.
• Develop analytics models to forecast future project costs from historical data and parameters.
• Assist with budget mapping to ensure fiscal accuracy across the department.
• Analyze performance trends and drivers of variance across cost, schedule, and resources.
• Conduct root-cause analyses on deviations and inform mitigation strategies.
• Develop and maintain cost tracking and reporting systems for accurate operations reporting.
• Collaborate with project teams to gather cost data and provide trend insights.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements through analysis.
• Translate complex data into executive-ready narratives and decks highlighting trends and recommendations.
• Convey variance drivers in business terms for leadership.
• Engage with field teams to understand challenges and propose solutions.
• Identify risks and early warning signals using historical data and benchmarks.
• Conduct scenario planning and contingency analysis for future outcomes.
• Communicate data-driven insights to cross-functional partners.
