Qualifications

• Master's degree with 3+ years in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or Engineering; OR Ph.D.; OR Bachelor's with 6+ years in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or Engineering
• 2+ years of experience with short-read and long-read sequencing platforms like Illumina or PacBio
• 2+ or more years of experience with bioinformatics algorithms and their application to genomic data analysis
• 2+ years with scalable bioinformatics infrastructure including Docker, Nextflow, or GitHub Actions
• 2+ years with regulatory requirements (CLIA, CAP, HIPAA) for clinical genomics
• 1+ year of full-stack web development (Django, Flask, React)
• 3+ years with Python, JavaScript, or Java
• 3+ years with UNIX/Linux command-line tooling and scripting
• 2+ years with SQL/NoSQL datastores (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, MongoDB)
• 1+ years with software development practices: version control, testing, code review, documentation
• 1+ years with software deployment tools: Docker, CI/CD, GitHub Actions
• 1+ years with AI-assisted tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude)
• 1+ years with Plotly or interactive visualization tools
• 1+ years with observability platforms (Grafana, Datadog)

Responsibilities

• Engineer tools and workflows to analyze clinical genomic data and automate bioinformatics processes
• Develop web tools to visualize genomic data (IGV-based or browser viewers)
• Improve observability, monitoring, and reliability for production systems
• Address bottlenecks and scalability through automation
• Deliver features with minimal oversight and maintain quality
• Troubleshoot complex issues across interconnected systems
• Document technical findings and support compliance-related activities
• Collaborate with bioinformatics R&D, clinical lab analysts, and analytics teams
