Job summary

Recruiting from Scratch is seeking a Product Engineer to join a 5-person engineering team. You will work on backend systems and data pipelines that power claims processing, provider payments, and internal healthcare operations.

You will collaborate with Operations, Engineering, and stakeholders to translate healthcare workflows into reliable systems. This role offers ownership of the data platform as the company grows and launches new products, influencing how healthcare is delivered and paid

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience (4+ years considered for exceptional candidates).
• Strong Python experience, including refactoring and maintaining production code.
• Experience designing and operating data pipelines, ETLs, or backend systems at scale.
• Experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
• Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders.
• Comfort working in ambiguous, fast-moving startup environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and scale data pipelines and backend systems supporting claims, payments, and healthcare operations.
• Develop automations for provider notifications, patient support workflows, and internal operations.
• Own data flows across ingestion, transformation, validation, and persistence.
• Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, and business stakeholders to understand workflows and reduce manual overhead.
• Rapidly prototype solutions and refactor them into clean, maintainable production code.
• Contribute to the long-term evolution of the data platform as data volume and product scope increase.
