Placements24 is seeking a Remote Process Engineer to optimize manufacturing workflows from a home office. You will analyze complex processes, identify bottlenecks, and design data-driven solutions to improve productivity, cut costs, and boost quality.

You will collaborate with R&D, production, and quality teams, document SOPs, track KPIs, and lead cross-functional improvement projects while ensuring safety and quality standards across sites.

Qualifications

• Degree in chemical, industrial, or mechanical engineering.
• Experience in process engineering with a focus on optimization in manufacturing.
• Proven Lean Six Sigma or other CI method experience.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities.
• Proficiency in process simulation, data analysis, and statistics software.
• Excellent remote communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple remote projects autonomously.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze existing manufacturing processes using data-driven approaches to identify areas for improvement, bottlenecks, and waste reduction.
• Design, develop, and implement process optimization strategies, leveraging methodologies like Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and statistical process control (SPC).
• Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices for optimized processes.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, production, and quality assurance, to implement and sustain process improvements.
• Conduct feasibility studies for new technologies and methodologies that could enhance production efficiency.
• Monitor the performance of implemented changes, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and generate detailed reports on process improvements and their impact.
• Provide technical guidance and support to production teams remotely.
• Stay current with industry advancements in process engineering and manufacturing technology.
• Manage process improvement projects from conception through to implementation and validation.
• Ensure all process modifications align with safety, environmental, and quality standards of the company, supporting operations near Paarl, Western Cape or other sites.

Requirements

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Significant experience in process engineering, with a strong focus on optimization within the manufacturing or production industry.
• Proven track record of successfully implementing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Proficiency in process simulation software, data analysis tools, and statistical software.
• Exceptional remote communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple projects effectively in a remote setting.
