Job summary

The District of Columbia Courts is seeking a Paralegal Specialist in the Probate Division. The incumbent will assist self-represented litigants navigating probate procedures and provide guidance on forms, filings, and court rules.

Responsibilities include researching statutes, preparing correspondence and training materials, and helping improve probate processes. This position is eligible for telework and requires a bachelor’s degree with transcripts uploaded for consideration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Transcript or degree must be uploaded for consideration.
• Foreign education must be accompanied by a Certificate of Foreign Equivalency for credit.

Responsibilities

• Provides procedural guidance and legal information to self-represented litigants on Probate Division cases, filing requirements, court procedures, deadlines and resources.
• Assists in identifying and completing Probate Division forms and provides guidance on filing petitions, motions, notices, affidavits, and other court documents.
• Evaluates court filings for completeness and communicates deficiencies and required corrections.
• Researches statutes, court rules, case law, and other resources to provide information to attorneys, officers, and division management.
• Prepares correspondence, reports, memos, and instructional materials for review by attorneys and leadership.
• Develops, updates, and maintains Probate Division forms, procedures, training materials, and website content.
