Job summary

Solutus Legal Search client seeks a Privacy and Regulatory Counsel to join its legal team. The role oversees data privacy, consumer protection, and emerging tech matters, with emphasis on AI and regulatory compliance across jurisdictions.

Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, you will advise business leaders and product teams, translating complex requirements into practical guidance. The position can be remote with limited travel (4x/yr to HQ for Bay Area residents).

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with the California State Bar.
• At least 5 years of legal experience, including in-house and law firm experience.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. and international privacy and data protection laws (GDPR, CPRA, COPPA, PIPEDA).
• Experience advising on complex regulatory frameworks (FCC, FTC, HIPAA).
• Experience developing privacy, regulatory compliance, and governance programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead U.S. and international data privacy and consumer protection initiatives (GDPR, CPRA, HIPAA, COPPA, PIPEDA).
• Develop, implement, and maintain privacy policies and governance frameworks.
• Assess AI and emerging tech regulatory risks and provide practical guidance to business teams.
