Job summary

HackerOne is seeking a Privacy Counsel to support global data protection, AI governance, and commercial contracting. You will advise across Product, Security, Compliance, Engineering, and Sales, and help accelerate product development and cross-border data operations with thoughtful privacy guidance.

The role emphasizes hands-on legal work, collaboration, and structured problem solving in a fast-paced, globally distributed environment.

Qualifications

• Qualified lawyer with GDPR experience and 5+ years PQE in-house or private practice.
• Strong knowledge of EU/UK GDPR and global privacy laws.
• Experience drafting and negotiating DPAs and handling privacy issues in a global business context.
• Proven ability to manage data breaches, regulatory notifications, and privacy audits.
• Excellent communication for non-legal audiences.
• Understanding AI technologies and related legal frameworks.
• Ability to provide practical, strategic legal advice.
• Experience using privacy management systems such as OneTrust.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work across teams.
• Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, global environment.

Responsibilities

• Apply AI-first approach to privacy assessments and drafting workflows.
• Adapt guidance to evolving global privacy and AI regulations.
• Use first principles to simplify complex privacy questions and provide clear recommendations.
• Ground evaluations in evidence and regulatory expectations during DPIAs.
• Support global privacy assessments, DPAs, TIAs, and other risk reviews.
• Review product features and data practices for privacy-by-design and risk insights.
• Draft and negotiate DPAs and privacy terms for global sales and procurement.
• Maintain privacy documentation and internal templates.
• Create internal trainings on privacy and AI governance.
• Coordinate privacy audits and align findings with stakeholders.
• Monitor evolving privacy laws and AI governance trends.
