Job summary

HackerOne seeks a Privacy Counsel to join the Privacy function and support global data protection, AI governance, and commercial contracting. You will collaborate with Product, Security, Compliance, Engineering, and Sales to deliver guidance, assessments, and vendor agreements while enabling rapid yet responsible growth.

You will draft, review, and negotiate DPAs and privacy terms, maintain documentation, and provide practical legal advice in a fast-paced, globally distributed environment.

Qualifications

• UK or EU qualified lawyer with GDPR experience (PQE 5+ years)
• Strong knowledge of EU/UK GDPR and global privacy laws (US, Middle East, Asia)
• Experience drafting and negotiating DPAs in a global context
• Proven ability to manage data breaches, regulatory notifications and privacy audits
• Excellent communication skills for non-legal audiences
• Strong understanding of AI technologies and related legal frameworks
• Experience using privacy management systems such as OneTrust
• Ability to manage multiple priorities across diverse teams
• Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced global environment

Responsibilities

• Apply an AI-First approach to privacy workflows and tools.
• Adapt quickly to evolving global privacy regulations and guidance.
• Provide clear, structured privacy recommendations using first principles.
• Ground DPIAs and related assessments in evidence and regulatory expectations.
• Support global privacy assessments, DPIAs, AI DPIAs, TIAs, LIAs and risk reviews.
• Review product features and data practices for privacy-by-design.
• Draft and negotiate DPAs and privacy terms for global sales and procurement.
• Maintain privacy contractual documentation and internal templates.
• Deliver internal privacy and AI governance training.
• Coordinate internal and external privacy audits and remediation efforts.
• Monitor evolving privacy laws and share insights with stakeholders
