Job summary

Shields Health Solutions is seeking an experienced Pharmacy Technician to support patient care by facilitating medication approvals and navigating insurance processes. The role involves working remotely with clinicians, foundations, and manufacturers to secure financial assistance for high-cost copays.

You will handle data entry, communicate with insurance companies, and assist patients with claims while maintaining accurate records.

Qualifications

• Required Licensure/Certification: state registered pharmacy technicians; obtain state license within 6 months if required by state; national certification (PTCB or NHA) at time of hire or within 9 months

Responsibilities

• Communicate directly with insurance companies to facilitate medication approvals.
• Navigate pharmacy operating systems to input data, adjudicate test claims, and develop action plans for follow-up.
• Document patient concerns, prior authorization status, and financial assistance needs across databases and EMR/email systems.
• Review prescriptions with physicians’ offices to ensure optimal patient care.
• Maintain complete and accurate records of patient communications.
• Assist patients with managing their pharmacy insurance claims.
• Collaborate with pharmacists and pharmacy liaisons to deliver high-quality patient care.
• Communicate with patients by phone to support medication adherence and compliance.
