Job summary

Zscaler seeks a Principal Threat Researcher to join the Threat Research Team in a remote capacity. You will serve as subject matter expert on adversary behavior across endpoints and cloud, dissect and outmaneuver techniques, and translate findings into scalable detection strategies that guide engineering and product decisions.

You will collaborate with detection engineers, intelligence analysts, and threat hunters, document results for internal and external audiences, mentor juniors, and help

Qualifications

• 12+ years of security research with actionable outcomes.
• Extensive OS expertise and experience with EDR platforms.
• Experience with at least one cloud provider (AWS, GCP, Azure) and cloud-based detection.
• Software development in a scripting language (e.g., PowerShell, Python) and a compiled language (C/C++/Rust/Go).

Responsibilities

• Scope and refine research initiatives across OSs and major cloud providers.
• Analyze attack techniques and develop detection data sources and proofs of concept.
• Engineer automated attack code and write test code to validate threat coverage.
• Collaborate with detection engineers, analysts, and threat hunters to prioritize deliverables.
• Document findings and mentor junior team members, presenting results clearly.
