Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company LLC, through WECTEC Staffing Services, seeks a Principal Engineer – Substation for a remote, North America–based role on a 1-year contract. You will lead substation projects from conception to execution, coordinating with multiple stakeholders and external engineers to meet IEEE, NESC, and interconnection requirements.

This position favors candidates with 7+ years in HV substation engineering, and a background in project engineering or management; PMP or PE

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil/Structural Engineering preferred.
• 7+ years' experience in Substation design and engineering of High Voltage substation projects.
• Project Engineering or Project Management experience.
• PMP or P.E. in related discipline is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with other project stakeholders to develop and secure a substation site, support engineering updates, data and permits necessary to design and build the substation.
• Training, due diligence, and technical oversight of external engineers of record for all assigned substation projects to ensure compliance with required interconnection agreements and industry codes.
• Coordinate with other groups to ensure E&C substation projects are successful, presenting progress, issues and risk mitigation to management.
• Support Transmission Services during review of interconnection documentation and ensure ISO requirements are incorporated into project design.
• Assist ISC with SOW creation, review, approval and preparation of shopping carts for engineering services and materials.
