Lumen seeks a Principal Software Architect to elevate DJAS architecture with formal practices, patterns, and AI-augmented design. This remote role targets candidates across the U.S. who can drive architecture quality, governance, and cross-cutting concerns in a multi-system environment.

Ideal candidates bring 12+ years in software architecture, strong background in distributed systems, API design, and experience integrating AI capabilities, while mentoring teams and shaping strategic direction.

Qualifications

Extensive software architecture experience across complex systems.
AI-first practitioner using LLMs and AI tools.
Proven track record delivering production architectures.
Formal education or structured architecture practice exposure.

Responsibilities

Apply core software architecture principles to DJAS design work including microservices and API-first patterns.
Lead architecture design sessions and reviews, ensuring non-functional requirements are addressed from the start.
Define architecture governance and standards for the team to follow consistently.
Evaluate modern architecture patterns and AI-augmented engineering practices.
Mentor architects and engineers on fundamentals and patterns.
Collaborate with cloud and security architects to ensure cross-cutting concerns are addressed.
