Job summary

Lumen seeks a Principal Product Manager to shape the architecture and expansion of data center metro networks. You will drive internal product roadmaps, evaluate expansion plans, and lead cross-functional teams to deliver valuable network investments.

You will own the roadmap for internal network products, assess financial metrics, and partner with Product, Network Planning, Engineering, Finance, and Sales to drive decisive outcomes. This is a remote role across the U.S.

Qualifications

• 8-10+ years in product management, program management, or network planning/engineering.
• 3+ years supporting metro, data center, optical, or related network infra.
• Strong metro network architecture knowledge including ring and mesh topologies.
• Experience leading cross-functional technical programs through planning and delivery.
• Ability to build quantitative demand, investment, and ROI models.
• Understanding of capital economics, including payback and ROI trade-offs.
• Ability to translate complex technical/financial analysis into concise recommendations for senior leaders.

Responsibilities

• Own the product strategy, requirements, and multi-year roadmap for data center metro network solutions and expansions.
• Translate topology, capacity, transport and PoP decisions into repeatable designs.
• Lead cross-functional expansion programs from evaluation through delivery with clear milestones and risks.
• Evaluate proposed investments using demand, utilization, revenue potential, and ROI analysis.
• Establish a framework for prioritizing metro network upgrades and expansions.
• Build demand models combining contracted demand, market signals, and forecast scenarios.
• Assess whether existing internal products remain viable platforms for future growth.
