Job summary

SEARCH is seeking a Principal Investigator to lead and manage archaeological projects across the Southwest, with primary support for Arizona and New Mexico. The role is remote, requiring coordination of fieldwork, lab tasks, and report production, with emphasis on high-quality technical writing for federal, state, and tribal agencies under relevant preservation laws.

Candidates should have graduate training in Anthropology, be based in or relocating to New Mexico, and hold or be eligible for the

Qualifications

• Must meet Secretary of the Interior's professional qualifications standards for archaeology.
• Must be an RPA or eligible to become an RPA.
• Strong knowledge of state and federal laws governing cultural resources management.
• Extensive archaeological experience in New Mexico and/or Arizona.
• Willingness and ability to travel as required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate field, research, and lab tasks for Southwest projects.
• Prepare high-quality technical reports and awardable proposals.
• Manage project staff and client relationships.
• Develop Health & Safety plans and ensure deliverable QA/QC.
• Travel for field visits and site inspections as needed.
