Job summary

Cisco Systems is seeking a Principal Engineer to join the Security and Policy Platform Group. This fully remote opportunity invites candidates nationwide to strengthen secure, scalable software across Cisco’s portfolio.

You will mentor across teams and shape the technical direction of Cisco's software and technology solutions. You will influence architecture, drive long‑term strategy, and collaborate with product and engineering teams to deliver high‑impact security outcomes for Cisco’s products

Qualifications

12+ years of experience designing and developing large‑scale software, platform, or distributed systems.
Experience building and scaling highly available, secure, and distributed systems in cloud or hybrid environments.
Proficiency in Go, Rust, or C++.
5+ years of experience with security, privacy, and data protection principles as applied to policy and platform systems.

Responsibilities

Innovate, develop, and drive unique software and technology solutions with global impact across Cisco’s broader product portfolio and multiple technology and business groups.
Mentor and consult with senior teams on sophisticated challenges and drive architectural consistency.
Lead domain or cross‑domain initiatives, connecting emerging trends to Cisco products.
Set standards for technical direction and influence industry trends and Cisco’s technical community.
Translate strategic vision into scalable, high‑impact solutions across engineering, product, and business teams.
