Job summary

Eliassen Group is seeking a Principal Data Scientist to scale data science and AI capabilities for end-to-end payment optimization. You will design and deploy real-time models, lead cross-functional initiatives, and mentor senior data scientists while contributing hands-on across architecture and reviews.

The role requires 7+ years in ML with 5+ years in real-time systems, strong Python/SQL, and excellent communication to influence executives.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in ML research or engineering with 5+ years building real-time ML systems.
• Proficiency in Python (Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn) and strong SQL.
• Experience leading solution design and execution, translating complex business requirements into actionable technology solutions.
• Bonus: Payments/fintech experience; cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, Snowflake, Databricks, or Vertex AI.

Responsibilities

• Define technical vision and strategy for data-driven product initiatives focused on payment optimization, aligned to business goals.
• Develop scalable and reusable real-time ML capabilities for models including classification, ranking, optimization, and rapid experimentation.
• Oversee and contribute to ML model development, deployment, operation, validation, and maintenance.
• Establish best practices for ML modeling and adopt modern tools, frameworks, and infrastructure.
• Mentor an elite team of data scientists and collaborate with product, engineering, data, and compliance teams.
• Communicate complex concepts to varied audiences, including executives, and drive cross-functional initiatives.
