Eliassen Group is seeking a Principal Data Scientist to scale real-time ML for payment optimisation. You will collaborate with ML engineers and product partners to design and deploy production-grade AI solutions, drive strategy, and mentor senior data science talent.

The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on contributions across architecture, code reviews, and deployment, enabling end-to-end value delivery in a remote setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field; PhD preferred.
• 7+ years ML research/engineering with 5+ years real-time ML systems in production; hands-on.
• Proficiency in Python, Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn and strong SQL experience.

Responsibilities

• Define technical vision for data-driven product initiatives focused on payment optimisation.
• Develop scalable capabilities for real-time ML models (classification, ranking, optimisation).
• Oversee end-to-end ML model lifecycle: conception, development, deployment, operation, validation, maintenance.
• Enforce best practices for ML modeling; evaluate tools and infrastructure.
• Mentor senior data scientists and foster innovation and collaboration.
• Partner with product, engineering, data and compliance teams to integrate ML into products.
