Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology is seeking a Principal Data Scientist to design and deploy AI/ML solutions that help CMS programs turn data into actionable insights. You’ll lead hands-on development and drive production readiness across the team.

The role requires deep expertise in GenAI, LLMs, AWS cloud tools (Bedrock, Lambda, SageMaker), Python data stack, and data pipelines. You’ll mentor colleagues, shape roadmaps, and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver measurable impact.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or equivalent experience in CS/Data Science/Statistics
• 8+ years of data science experience deploying AI/ML in production
• Strong AI/ML coding ability and experience with GenAI tools
• Experience with LLMs and AI model evaluation
• Cloud emphasis with AWS Bedrock/Lambda/SageMaker
• Proficient in Python data stack and SQL

Responsibilities

• Design and deploy AI/ML solutions for CMS HOM program
• Lead hands-on development from prototype to production
• Mentor and supervise other AI/ML data scientists
• Evaluate AI coding tools and integrate with legacy systems
• Develop roadmaps and scale AI/ML programs
• Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver measurable impact
