Job summary

Sourcewell is seeking a Principal Data Engineer to lead the design, development, and maintenance of data solutions aligned with organizational needs. You will Drive data architecture decisions and mentor engineers in implementing secure, scalable data platforms.

The role requires 7+ years in data solutions with strong SQL Server, ETL, and Azure/Data BI skills, plus collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver complex data projects. This is a remote, full-time position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS or related field and 7+ years designing data solutions.
• Alternative: 11+ years combined IT education and relevant work experience.
• 5 years of SQL Server experience including design, queries, and admin tasks.
• 4 years of ETL experience with SSIS or Azure Data Factory.
• 3 years with Azure, Power BI, SSRS, Azure DevOps, Jira, and Git.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and maintenance of data solutions.
• Create and review data structures, algorithms, and constraints.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify business requirements and solutions.
• Document code, tests, and deployment processes.
• Design data and integration solutions for large-scale systems.
• Mentor data engineers and promote best practices.
• Lead data architecture planning and decision making.
• Ensure security, performance, and data quality; respond to issues.
• Participate in releases and after-hours support as needed.
