Remote Worker LTD. seeks an experienced Principal Data Engineer on a contract basis to support complex client engagements across Data & AI transformation programmes. This highly client-facing consultancy role operates at strategic and hands-on levels, collaborating with senior stakeholders to design scalable data platforms.

The role emphasizes Databricks leadership, architecture, and delivery across Azure and AWS environments, with strong consulting capabilities and stakeholder management.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Principal Data Engineer/Lead/Data Architect in enterprise environments.
• Strong consultancy and client-facing skills with stakeholder management.
• Deep Databricks expertise including architecture and leading delivery teams.
• Extensive experience designing cloud-native data platforms on Azure and/or AWS.
• Advanced PySpark and SparkSQL for large-scale distributed data processing.
• Solid understanding of modern data architecture, ETL/ELT and data modelling.
• Excellent SQL skills and data governance awareness.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and implementation of enterprise-scale Databricks solutions.
• Define engineering standards, best practices and scalable delivery approaches.
• Drive platform performance, resilience and optimisation across engagements.
• Mentor engineering teams and guide delivery in complex projects.
• Engage with senior stakeholders to align platform strategy and roadmaps.
