Job summary
BlueFlag LLP is seeking a Principal Data Architect to lead data architecture for an AI platform supporting VA reporting, analytics, and ML on Azure, with Databricks and Unity Catalog. The role is remote and customer-facing daily, guiding senior data engineers and VA leaders through architecture decisions.
You will design ingestion, storage, modeling, and serving solutions, drive the platform move to Azure Commercial, and craft metadata-driven, scalable patterns across thousands of tables while
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
- 10+ years in data engineering and data architecture preferred.
- Strong leadership and customer-facing experience required.
Responsibilities
- Lead architecture discussions with VA stakeholders and translate needs into designs.
- Mentor senior data engineers through design and code reviews.
- Set standards for ingestion, storage, modeling, and serving on Azure Databricks, Delta Lake, and Synapse.
- Architect platform migration to Azure Commercial; use Unity Catalog for data governance.
- Design metadata-driven frameworks for large-scale table movement (batch, CDC, streaming).
- Support reporting and ML workloads via Synapse, Databricks, and Power BI.
- Ensure PHI/PII protection via access controls and security policies.
