Job summary

RHI Magnesita N.V. is seeking a Precast Refractory Technical Specialist to support the development, implementation, and optimization of precast refractory solutions across North America. This is a fully remote role with extensive travel to customer sites and manufacturing locations.

You will collaborate with Sales, R&D, Operations, and Recycling teams to solve customer challenges, improve product performance, and drive opportunities for growth, efficiency, and sustainability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Ceramic Eng, Metallurgical Eng, Materials Science, Chemical Eng, or related field preferred.
• 5+ years in refractories, steelmaking, heavy machinery, or related industrial setting.
• Knowledge of refractory materials, applications, and steelmaking practices.
• Mechanical aptitude to support mixers, gunning machines, and related systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, able to present technical information to diverse audiences.
• Advanced Microsoft 365; SAP experience is a plus.
• Strong organizational skills, self-motivated, able to work independently and cross-functionally.
• Willing to travel extensively (75%+) across North America.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Sales to understand requirements and recommend precast solutions.
• Conduct field measurements and assessments to support mold design.
• Support manufacturing processes for precast refractory components.
• Coordinate and monitor product trials at customer sites.
• Identify opportunities to improve product performance and manufacturing efficiency.
• Document and communicate product quality results to customers and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with R&D on new product development and improvements.
• Support Operations with footprint strategies and manufacturing transfers.
• Partner with Recycling to advance sustainability objectives.
• Provide hands-on technical support in customer and manufacturing environments while maintaining safety standards.
