Job summary

Surgery Partners is seeking a Billing/Authorization Specialist to obtain managed care authorizations and verify patient benefits. This role analyzes utilization data and maintains satisfaction among patients, physicians, and insurers.

Responsibilities include obtaining referrals, reviewing schedules, updating authorizations in the EHR, verifying insurance, and supporting collections staff. Knowledge of CPT/ICD-9 and healthcare billing systems is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1–2 years of experience in healthcare insurance billing and verification, collections and/or authorizations.

Responsibilities

• Obtain referrals and authorizations prior to services via phone, fax, or online.
• Review daily schedules for authorizations, referrals, pre-notification and insurance eligibility verification.
• Input/update authorization information into EHR.
• Verify and update patient insurance details and identify deductibles and co-pays.
• Coordinate with Financial Counselor for patient discussions and payment plans.
• Assist Collections with account questions as needed.
• Stay up-to-date on payer authorization requirements.
