Job summary

GE Vernova is seeking an intern in its Power Conversion and Storage Solutions team to contribute to power system and control initiatives. You will review control algorithms, develop block diagrams, and build simplified models. Work includes testing in MATLAB/PSCAD and applying AI-driven coding approaches to advance control design.

The role emphasizes understanding inverter-based equipment, collaboration across teams, and producing detailed analyses and customer-value presentations.

Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in electrical or electric power engineering, controls engineering or related field.
• Solid understanding of power system and control concepts.
• Understanding of inverter-based electrical equipment.
• Experience with modeling/ simulation tools (MATLAB, PSCAD, PSSE, PSLF, PowerFactory).

Responsibilities

• Review the control algorithm with the controls team.
• Develop high-level block diagram of the control system.
• Develop simplified models and test in MATLAB/PSCAD.
• Understand electrical characteristics of GE Vernova power electronics products and grid integration.
• Work on automation architecture.
• Prepare detailed written reports/presentations describing analyses and value propositions.
• Collaborate in a team-focused environment and communicate with internal customers.
• Python coding and Agentic Coding using AI.
