Job summary

Fervo is seeking a Platform Engineer to build, operate, and improve the shared infrastructure and tooling used by internal teams to deliver software. You will focus on reliable, secure, and well-documented platform services and collaborate with engineering, cybersecurity, and the governed Azure team.

Ideal candidates bring strong hands-on cloud and automation experience, with a track record of turning platform needs into self-service capabilities to accelerate delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
• 3–6+ years of experience in software development, platform engineering, or cloud engineering.
• Writing and deploying infrastructure as code in an automated manner.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and secrets-free authentication patterns (OIDC, managed identity, workload identity federation).
• Able to design systems with a security-first mindset: private ingress, least-privilege IAM, no long-lived credentials.
• Writing and consuming APIs.
• Leveraging AI Tools such as Claude Code to enhance productivity.
• Strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Platform Hosting & Provisioning: Build and operate shared Azure infrastructure for teams to consume, including hosting with Container Apps, private networking, managed identity, OIDC trust federation, and secrets-free CI/CD pipelines within the organization’s governed Azure environment.
• Shared Platform Services: Build and operate the core, shared infrastructure that teams would otherwise rebuild for every project (API gateway, service catalog, service discovery).
• Security & Compliance: Embed security from day one: private ingress, least-privilege IAM, and security scanning; maintain audit trails per compliance needs.
• Adoption & Measurement: Work with teams to understand platform friction, track time-to-deploy, adoption, cost attribution, and code review patterns; treat as feedback signals.
