Job summary

Harris & Associates is seeking a Part-Time to Full Time Plan Check Engineer to join our Municipal team in southern California. This staff augmentation role can be performed remotely or in a client office with municipal agency staff.

The position requires a civil engineering degree, 5+ years of relevant experience, and a Professional Engineer license is preferred. Compensation ranges per hour with equal employment opportunity statements included.

Qualifications

• Requires a college degree, civil engineering is required.
• Professional Engineering license is preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of civil engineering, plan check, or pipeline design experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work independently with limited supervision.
• Review development improvement plans (grading, street, storm drain/hydrology, water, recycled water, and sewer plan submittals).
• Check design for adherence to agency guidelines, standards, specifications, and checklists.
• Evaluate design for constructability, maintainability, and operability.
• Track project budgets and prepare construction cost estimates.
• Coordinate with agency staff, inspectors, developers, engineers, and the public.
