Job summary

Harris & Associates, Inc. is seeking a Plan Check Engineer for our Municipal team in southern California. The role can be remote or office-based at client sites, with part-time to full-time hours depending on project needs.

The position requires a Civil Engineering degree and preferably a PE license, with at least five years of civil engineering or plan check experience. Responsibilities include reviewing plans, ensuring adherence to agency guidelines, and coordinating with various stakeholders

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• Professional Engineering License is preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant civil engineering, plan check, or pipeline design experience.

Responsibilities

• Work independently with limited supervision on municipal plans and specifications.
• Review development improvement plans (grading, streets, storm drainage, water, sewer) for compliance with agency guidelines.
• Evaluate design for constructability, maintainability, and operability; track budgets and prepare cost estimates.
• Interface with agency staff, inspectors, developers, engineers and the public; meet deadlines and coordinate multiple projects.
