FWI (FedWriters, Inc.) supports the HHS Office of Minority Health by producing accessible plain-language materials for LEP communities. As a Technical Writer/Editor II, you will edit, proofread, and format a wide range of reports, memos, emails, and educational content to meet federal plain-language guidelines.

This remote, full-time role requires strong editing skills, experience with Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat, and eligibility for a Public Trust clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, journalism, or a similar field.
• At least four years of experience as a Technical Writer/Editor, preferably in a federal government context.
• At least four years of experience editing, proofreading, and formatting in Microsoft Word.
• At least four years of experience producing publication-ready documents in Adobe Acrobat.
• Eligible for an HHS Public Trust security clearance.

Responsabilités

• Edit and proofread materials to comply with federal plain-language guidelines.
• Edit, proofread, and provide consultation on written communications.
• Edit, proofread, and format contract deliverables and educational materials.
• Attend biweekly project status meetings and take meeting minutes.
• Make revisions by established deadlines.
• Produce accessible English content across digital, broadcast, and print media.
• Develop plain-language communications for HHS programs and health information.
• Create materials written at a sixth to eighth grade reading level.
• Use clear structure, active voice, and visual aids where appropriate.
• Adhere to plain-language guidelines and health literacy best practices.
• Develop materials that resonate with diverse LEP communities.
• Promote awareness of HHS programs among LEP audiences.
• Juggle multiple editing tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
