Job summary

BairesDev is seeking a Backend Engineer specializing in PHP to build and maintain high-performance web applications and APIs. You will modernize legacy systems and implement scalable solutions aligned with modern software engineering standards.

You will design, develop, and maintain backend services using PHP 7.4+/8+ with Laravel or Symfony, build RESTful APIs, and lead refactoring for performance and security while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of Backend Engineering experience focusing on PHP development.
• Proficient with PHP 7.4+/8+ and MVC frameworks like Laravel or Symfony.
• Strong RESTful API design and implementation experience.
• Solid SQL database skills (MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL).
• Experience modernizing and refactoring legacy codebases.
• Advanced English proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using PHP 7.4+/8+ and MVC frameworks like Laravel or Symfony.
• Build and optimize RESTful APIs for frontend and third-party integrations.
• Lead refactoring to improve maintainability, performance, and security.
• Manage and optimize database schemas and queries (MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Ensure high code quality via testing, reviews, and best practices.
