Job summary

SME Careers is looking for a Remote PHP Engineer to review AI-generated PHP code and produce high-quality reference implementations. You will develop AI training content and evaluate AI responses to improve their performance.

The ideal candidate must have at least a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and over 4 years of experience in backend systems, with expert-level proficiency in modern PHP and strong backend fundamentals. This role offers flexible, hourly paid work opportunities.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional experience developing production backend systems in PHP.
• Comfort with version control, CI/CD workflows, and automated testing.
• Minimum C1 English proficiency (written and spoken).

Responsibilities

• Create high-quality reference answers to guide AI learning.
• Evaluate, rank, and provide feedback on AI responses.
• Test AI outputs for inaccuracies and unsafe practices.

Skills

Expert-level proficiency in modern PHP (7.4/8.x+)

Strong backend fundamentals (HTTP, REST)

Deep experience with databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL)

Experience with at least one major PHP framework

Security mindset with knowledge of secure coding practices

Education
