Job summary

Elevance Health’s CarelonRx is seeking a Pharmacy Intern to support interpretation of prescriptions, prior authorization processing, and issue resolution. The incumbent will be enrolled in an accredited Pharmacy program with an active intern license and will work about 20 hours per week in a hybrid/virtual setup, within commuting distance for in-person training.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Pharmacy program at an accredited college or university.
• A current, active, unrestricted Pharmacist Intern license in applicable state(s) required.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and data entry of moderately complex prescriptions.
• Process prior authorization requests and troubleshoot adjudication issues.
• Assist in developing and configuring prior authorization decision trees.
• Participate in quality assurance feedback from pharmacists.
• Assist in implementing clinical programs within the prior authorization space.
• Verify member, provider, and drug information for prior authorizations.
• Educate providers on pharmacy-based rules and assistance programs.
• Inform relevant parties of all prior authorization determinations.
