Job summary

Elevance Health's CarelonRx unit seeks a Pharmacy Intern in Virginia to support the interpretation and data entry of moderately complex prescriptions, prior authorization processing, and troubleshooting adjudication issues. This role offers hybrid/remote work with required in-person training sessions.

You must be enrolled in an accredited pharmacy program and hold an active, unrestricted Pharmacist Intern license.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Pharmacy program at an accredited college or university.
• A current, active, unrestricted Pharmacist Intern license in applicable state(s) required.
• Ability to work 20 per week for the duration of the internship.

Responsibilities

• Interpretation and data entry of moderately complex prescriptions.
• Prior authorization processing and troubleshooting adjudication issues.
• Developing and configuring prior authorization decision trees in the workflow tool.
• Participating in QA feedback from pharmacists of prior authorization decision trees.
• Educating providers on pharmacy-based rules related to prescriptions and medication resources or assistance programs.
• Processes prior authorization requests from physicians’ offices and ensures Medicare/Medicaid compliance.
