Job summary

Permit Power is seeking a Permitting Policy Director to co-lead our agenda to remove bureaucratic barriers for residential solar, plug‑in solar, and home batteries. You will partner with advocacy staff to drive legislative change, lead coalitions, and serve as the internal and external expert on permit streamlining.

The role focuses on policies from values like property rights and small government, across purple states.

Qualifications

  • Seven or more years in policy development, legislative advocacy, or regulatory affairs related to solar, permitting, or government efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Permit Power's permitting policy agenda and streamline permitting, inspection, and building code processes.
  • Draft and vet bill language; create advocacy materials; lobby legislators and officials; negotiate with opposition.
  • Build and manage coalitions with home builders, solar industry, think tanks, and others.
  • Serve as subject matter expert on permitting rules and cutting-edge policies like third party permitting and HOA issues.
  • Evaluate compliance and implementation; analyze friction points and refine solutions to reduce barriers to solar adoption.
  • Manage external research and consultants to support policy agenda.
