Job summary

Brain Co. seeks a Permitting & Plan Review Expert to serve as a full-time domain expert for engineering, product, design, data, and GTM teams. You will interpret building codes, review plan sets, and evaluate AI outputs to guide jurisdiction-specific decisions.

The role focuses 80% on permitting and plan review and 20% on product, project management, and documentation. Strong knowledge of IBC/IRC and multiple jurisdictions is required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on plan review, plans examination, code consulting, or permitting experience.
• Working fluency in the IBC and IRC, with knowledge of state code overlays.
• Ability to read full plan sets and identify missing or ambiguous items.
• Ability to articulate code logic clearly to engineers, product managers, and designers.

Responsibilities

• Answer nuanced permitting and code interpretation questions from teams.
• Review permit applications, plan sets, submittals, and AI outputs for correctness.
• Define what a real reviewer would approve, reject, or require revisions.
• Help create internal rubrics, checklists, and benchmark examples.
