Weekday 1 is seeking experienced Performance Engineers to optimize AI-training systems, focusing on C++, Python, Rust, and low-level optimization. This is a fully remote engagement offering substantial performance-focused work.

You will collaborate with AI researchers and engineers to design real-world performance tasks, evaluate solutions, and help reduce latency while increasing throughput across production-like workloads. 40 hours/week weekday availability required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of professional experience in Performance Engineering, Systems Programming, or Low-Level Software Optimization.
• Hands-on expertise in at least one of C++, Python, or Rust.
• Proven ability to improve latency, throughput, and memory footprint in production systems.
• Strong understanding of systems architecture, compiler behavior, and profiling techniques.
• Availability to work 40 hours per week during standard weekday business hours.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with research and engineering teams to improve AI capabilities in systems programming, compiler optimization, runtime performance, and low-level engineering concepts.
• Design challenging, real-world performance engineering tasks reflecting production-scale optimization scenarios.
• Develop accurate, well-documented solutions to complex systems programming and performance optimization problems.
• Review and evaluate AI-generated solutions, providing detailed technical feedback on correctness, efficiency, and quality.
• Create evaluation frameworks and scoring rubrics for topics including systems architecture, runtime optimization, compiler engineering, memory management, CPU/GPU performance, and concurrency.
