Qualifications

• Must have one of the coding credentials: AHIMA (CCA, CCS, or CCS-P) or AAPC (CPC, CPC-A, CPC-H, CPC-H-A, or specialty credentials).
• Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding.
• No specific work experience is required for this position.

Responsibilities

• Reviews documentation to identify facts needed to select comprehensive diagnoses and procedures.
• Codes evaluation and management to CPT and ICD-10 codes.
• Meets with physicians to review documentation and secure signatures for unsigned dates.
• Acts as lead for coders and assists with medical terminology and policy interpretation.
• Assists with physician education on documentation requirements.
• Prepares case reports and initiates follow-up for billing.
