Job summary

Pediatric Resource Group (PRG) is seeking a Pediatric Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialist (Pediatric CDIS) to partner with physicians, coding staff, and healthcare leaders. The role focuses on improving the completeness, specificity, and clinical accuracy of pediatric medical records across concurrent and retrospective reviews.

The Pediatric CDIS educates providers, develops queries, and supports compliant coding and reimbursement while enhancing pediatric patient care and quality

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of clinical documentation integrity experience.
• At least one year focused specifically on pediatric patient populations.
• Strong understanding of pediatric physiology, disease processes, treatments, clinical indicators, and documentation requirements.
• Experience reviewing pediatric medical records and identifying documentation and query opportunities.
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, Official Coding Guidelines, MS-DRG/APR-DRG methods, and quality reporting.
• Ability to evaluate complex pediatric records using clinical judgment and critical thinking.
• Experience collaborating with physicians, coding professionals, and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Perform concurrent and retrospective reviews of pediatric records to evaluate documentation completeness and accuracy.
• Identify documentation opportunities related to pediatric diagnoses, procedures, comorbidities, severity of illness, and quality measures.
• Develop compliant provider queries to clarify incomplete or nonspecific documentation.
• Educate pediatric physicians and teams on documentation requirements and best practices.
• Collaborate with pediatric coding professionals to align documentation with accurate code and DRG assignment.
• Maintain records of reviews, queries, interventions, and outcomes.
