Job summary

Driscoll Children’s Hospital seeks a Lead Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist with strong ICD coding proficiency and leadership in pediatric care. You will guide a CDI team of nurses and coders, ensuring accurate documentation and APR-DRG assignments across inpatient records.

The role requires experience in inpatient coding, physician education, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to drive data quality and reimbursement accuracy.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years ICD hospital-based coding experience or clinical candidates with pediatrics clinical background.
• RHIA/RHIT/CCS/CDIP/CCDS certification preferred or eligible to achieve within 2–3 years.
• Strong communication and education skills for physician and staff engagement.

Responsibilities

• Lead and educate the CDI team including nurses and coders.
• Oversee inpatient documentation, coding, and APR-DRG assignments.
• Collaborate with physicians, case management, and quality teams to improve data quality.
