Job summary

H. T. PROF Group is seeking a Pediatric Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialist (Pediatric CDIS) to partner with physicians, coding professionals, and healthcare leaders to improve pediatric documentation accuracy and reimbursement.

The role involves concurrent and retrospective reviews to ensure documentation reflects patient acuity, severity of illness, and medical necessity. You will educate teams, develop provider queries, and support quality outcomes in a fully remote environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of clinical documentation integrity experience.
• At least one year focused specifically on pediatric populations.
• Strong understanding of pediatric physiology and documentation requirements.
• Experience reviewing pediatric records and identifying documentation and query opportunities.
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, Official Coding Guidelines, MS-DRG/APR-DRG methodology, severity of illness, mortality risk, medical necessity, and quality reporting.
• Ability to collaborate with physicians, coding professionals, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Proficiency with electronic health records and CDI software.
• Ability to work remotely while managing multiple priorities and meeting quality/productivity targets.
• Active credentials: RN, CCDS, or CDIP.

Responsibilities

• Perform concurrent and retrospective reviews of pediatric records to evaluate documentation completeness and accuracy.
• Identify documentation opportunities related to pediatric diagnoses, procedures, comorbidities, severity of illness, and quality measures.
• Evaluate documentation using ICD-10-CM/PCS guidelines and regulatory requirements.
• Develop compliant provider queries to clarify incomplete or unsupported documentation.
• Educate pediatric physicians and teams on documentation requirements and best practices.
• Build collaborative relationships with pediatric providers to improve documentation quality.
• Participate in provider education sessions, case reviews, and documentation improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with coding professionals to align documentation with accurate code and DRG assignment.
• Support client reporting, audits, and mortality/drg reconciliation initiatives.
• Maintain knowledge of coding guidelines, reimbursement methodologies, and regulatory updates.
