Job summary

State of Maryland - DBM OPSB Division of Personnel Services is seeking an Audit Specialist to conduct timekeeping, payroll, and leave audits across SPMS agencies. You will develop audit plans, analyze data, and guide agencies on corrective actions to ensure accurate payments and compliance.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years in payroll or internal audits, familiarity with SPMS, and knowledge of FLSA/FMLA. This role offers telework eligibility and opportunities to improve processes across state

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Four years of payroll/timekeeping, HR, or internal auditing experience.
• Experience with payroll compliance and audit processes preferred.

Responsibilities

• Designs and conducts audits of timekeeping and payroll to ensure SPMS policy compliance.
• Maintains an annual audit schedule and documents findings.
• Provides guidance to agencies on corrective actions and follow-up on overpayments.
• Stays current with FLSA, FMLA and state laws affecting payroll and leave.
