Job summary

Baker Tilly US is seeking a Payroll Director to lead Managed HR Services payroll operations. You will oversee a 10–15 person team, ensuring accurate processing, compliant reporting, and proactive client communication across diverse engagements.

This role focuses on strategic development, scalable processes, and close collaboration with implementation teams, ADP and Intuit platforms, and emerging tools to improve efficiency, accuracy, and client outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) required.
• 12+ years of progressive payroll experience.
• 3–5+ years of people management experience.
• Deep knowledge of payroll operations, compliance, and multi-state payroll requirements.
• Proven ability to lead teams and manage complex payroll environments.
• Experience building systems, processes, and operational infrastructure from scratch.
• Strong ability to operate autonomously and make independent decisions.

Responsibilities

• Oversee end-to-end payroll service delivery, including processing, review/support, compliance, issue resolution, and client communication.
• Manage remote team of 10–15 payroll professionals, providing coaching and development.
• Drive revenue growth through client expansion and service enhancements.
• Design scalable payroll processes and workflows, automate where possible.
• Coordinate with implementation teams for onboarding and system configurations.
• Ensure payroll accuracy, compliance, and client satisfaction across engagements.
